The excellent aroma and flavor of Aranjuez's Strawberries has brought them broad recognition.

Nevertheless, the complexity of the hand harvesting system has contributed to the replacement of the original Aranjuez strawberry variety by a larger species which is much easier to pick.

The strawberry season is at its height in the months of May and June, but even in this time they are cherished due to low production.

Organoleptic characteristics and Nutrition facts

Strawberries are nutricious and refreshing. They are a valuable source of vitamins, mainly A, C, B6 and E and minerals such as calcium, potassium, and magnesium and trace minerals.

Gastronomic facts

Strawberries are mainly used in desserts. They are delicious served with sugar or whipped cream. Their taste is superb in sauces, cakes, milk shakes, ice-cream, yogurt, and meringue. Strawberry liquor is also a treat, both for its pleasant taste and lovely color.

Strawberry "gazpacho"

Strawberry gazpacho

Ingredients:
2 kilograms of strawberries. 6 tablespoonsful of extra-virgin olive oil. 2 tablespoonsful of vinager. 1 onion. 1 clove of garlic. Salt.

Preparation:
Wash strawberries and remove green leaves. Blend all ingredients and strain. Decorate with watermelon seeds.
